New this Year—$500 Award for Contestant Weighing In
Largest Brown Trout

Thousands of anglers are expected to be in Powder Mills Park on Friday, April 1, 2011 for the opening of trout season. Hundreds will be participating in the eighth annual Riedman Foundation Opening Day Trout Derby to benefit the Fish Hatchery at Powder Mills Park. The derby runs from 7 a.m. until noon and is open to the public for a $5 fee.

The Fish Hatchery at Powder Mills Park and the Riedman Foundation are pleased to announce that thanks to an increased commitment by Bank of America/Merrill Lynch, the winner of the Bank of America Angler Award will receive $500. “This is the first time derby has had a monetary award associated with a prize level,” says hatchery spokesperson Suzanne Seldes, “We can’t thank Bank of America enough for helping us raise the bar during this eighth year of the derby. We hope this large prize will help encourage more participation in the derby and further raise awareness of the important work done by the hatchery.”

The Bank of America Angler Award will be presented to the contestant weighing in the largest brown trout. Additionally, the Riedman Foundation Opening Day Trout Derby recognizes anglers in three age categories, including age eight and younger.
