Henrietta Man Takes Top Honors at the
2011 Riedman Foundation Opening Day Trout Derby

The 10 winners across all Derby prize categories
America Angler Award winner Gilberto Baguero
A seven-pound, four-ounce brown trout earned Gilberto Baguero of Henrietta, NY the
Bank of America Angler Award for Biggest Brown Trout and a grand prize of $500 today at the
2011 Riedman Foundation Opening Day Trout Derby at Powder Mills Park. The winning fish was 25-1/2” in length. The
derby recognized a total of ten anglers, including Dan Miller from Canandaigua, who reeled in a 10-pound, 15-ounce rainbow trout to earn first place in the adult division.
Other prize winners in the adult (age 16 and older) division:
Michael Casillo, of Shortsville, reeled in a 5 lb. 8 oz. rainbow trout, securing second place
Cheryl D’Arcangelis, of Lyons, placed third with a 4
lb. 12 oz. rainbow trout
In the age 9 to 15 age category, prizes were awarded to:
Reid Tompkins, 12 years of age, of Brighton, hooked a 7 lb. brown trout to secure first place
Cody Pacher, 10 years old, of East Rochester, placed second with a 3 lb. 1 oz. catch
Jimmy Hendron, 15 years old, of Chili, took third place with a 2 lb. 9 oz. brown trout
The Foundation also awarded prizes in the age 8 and younger category:
Braden Horan, 8 years old of Fairport, took first place with a 3 lb. 13 oz. brown trout
Santino Toomey, age 6, of Rochester, captured second
place with a 2 lb. brown trout
Matthew Gill, 8 years old, of East Irondequoit, placed
third with a 1 lb. 15 oz. brown trout
About 450 anglers of all ages participated in the April 1 derby. Proceeds will benefit the Fish Hatchery at Powder Mills Park which is funded and operated by the Riedman
Foundation.
